Wandering Once More

Just when I was getting settled, and thought I had landed home……… after three years, we are on the move again.  Not overseas this time, although it almost seems like it.

David has been working in northern British Columbia since mid-August, and this long-distance relationship was not much fun.  So, we have taken the plunge, bought a house in Fort St. John, BC, and on January 30, 2018 all our belongings will be loaded up and on the road to another new destination.  At least this time, I won’t be waiting months for an overseas shipment.

Fort St. John is cold. Colder than Calgary. More need of quilts, I guess. There is a sauna in my new house, which I’m sure will be well used, as I still haven’t gotten used to being cold again. I still hang on to my pullover until the temperature reaches 25C.

There are two quilt shops in Fort St. John, and lots of quilters.  I have one very good quilting friend there as well, which will make it much easier to find my place.

Fort St. John is situated at Mile 43 of the Alaska Highway. You can see the mountains from there, and it is a very beautiful area.

It is really hard to be leaving friends again, but who knows what adventures will find me there? And I have you to share them with.

Kathi, you so get the balance: loss of proximity to old and beloved friends vs the unknowns of new adventures and (by the way!) new friends.
Based on your record, it is safe, I know, to bet that Ft St John will quickly become “home” for you in the finest sense of the word. Just keep us informed! Janice
